It has never given me any problem, they provided free firmware / device updates about every week for years. it doesn't much need programmer adapters for the more obscure devices and when adapters are needed they are documented so you could make your own and cheap if you want to buy, many customer have been pretty impressed with Wellon serial programmer, their current offering starts at about $200 though.

It has worked on about 12 different eproms I have tried from 2KB to 512KB (bytes not bit) I tried a EEPROM and also tested some SRAM chips. So far no problems. at least as far as getting data in/out.
